The word Mehfil (महफ़िल) carries centuries of meaning — an intimate gathering, a circle of souls drawn together by poetry, music, and the shared longing to feel something true.
In the courts of Lucknow and Delhi, in the courtyards of old havelis, a Mehfil was where a poet's voice could silence a room. Where a single sher moved someone to tears. Where a kavita — unhurried, layered, full of the weight of the human experience — could hold a room in its palm.
Hindi Mehfil UK was born from that same spirit, transplanted into the heart of Cambridge.

Hindi has always been a language of many poetic hearts. At Hindi Mehfil, we celebrate the full breadth of that tradition.
The Hindi poem in all its forms — classical to contemporary, lyrical to political. Kavita does not rush. It lingers. It breathes. It speaks the unspeakable.
From the Chhayavaad movement of Nirala and Mahadevi Verma, to the raw modern voice of poets writing beside the Cam in Cambridge today.
